Kath lived with her family and was educated in Mildura until 1975, when she moved to Melbourne to join the Sisters of Mercy. Kath worked in Real Estate until 1975, and then undertook further religious and professional training, completing a Bachelor of Business (Accounting). In 1981 Kath joined Mercy Family Care Centre in Geelong where she worked in Child and Family Welfare until 1997. From 1997 to 1999 Kath worked part-time for MacKillop Family Services and for the Congregation. At the Congregation Chapter in September 1999, Kath was elected Congregation Leader for a six year term.
As Congregation Leader, Kath is a member of the Mercy Health & Aged Care Board, as well as being on a number of Boards in the education and welfare ministries of the Congregation, eg: Mercy Secondary Education Inc, MacKillop Family Services, etc.
During the Fifth Congregation Chapter held in September 2005, Kath was re-elected Congregation Leader for a further term of six years - her second term of office commenced in January 2006.
